The works comprised of the careful disconnection and hand demolition of a two-storey dining room with teaching rooms above. The whole site required extensive mine grouting works to remediate historic mine workings together with the removal of asbestos found. The building generally comprises of; heavily reinforced ground floor slab a steel frame, brickwork and insulated rendered walls on SFS, pre-cast concrete floors, existing stair core refurbishment, new external fire escape with screening, composite panel roofing and walling, aluminium curtain walling, windows and doors, extensive Mechanical and Electrical installations including cooling and a bespoke FF&E fit out.
Savesta Construction was appointed as main contractor due to our expertise in the education sector and the successful delivery of an earlier project with the same client.
The project was completed on time and on budget.
